Have you been noticing that when a disaster of some sort happens that you’ll learn of the bravery of many people? Remember when Hurricane Katrina struck and there were headlines of people helping other people? Of course we’ve also heard of those that weren’t so brave and didn’t help others.
It seems that there are always those people that in times of crisis seem to only think of themselves. These people aren’t there to assist others but to take advantage of the situation for their own benefit. They sometimes even harm others or damage other people’s property whenever there’s a disaster.
You can be certain that those people (I use the term people loosely as they behave more like animals) will do anything they possibly can to get what they want. What does that mean to you? You’ll have to make sure that you’re well protected and will be able to survive a violent attack. When chaos breaks out, looters seem to come out of the woodwork.
When a crisis situation persists such as a shortage of food or water, the result is often a herd mentality. When you have a mob of angry or hungry people they can quickly get in a destructive mode and will not care who they hurt. If this kind of violence happens with fans after their team won a game, imagine what will happen if they are hungry and thirsty.
Of course what the “mob” will have in mind will be to attempt to take away your supplies to meet their own needs. The danger here is that the mob may not stop with only taking your supplies. They may actually want to harm you or your family. A mob doesn’t seem to need a reason for what they do.
From history we can find examples of mobs that will assault, rob and even kill others. So for this reason we have to be able to manage a crisis. You will need to prepare now to protect yourself. You’ll need to add survival armor to your supplies.
In order to not end up as a tragedy but rather be counted among the living during this kind of threat you’ll need to acquire survival armor. There are many different kinds of body armor that you can purchase. Most people usually get upper body armor also known as vests.
This type of vest will have openings where plates of different kinds of materials can be placed. You will hear them called trauma plates. The best materials used in trauma plates can be steel, titanium or ceramic. You’ll need to read the label to find out what kind of material the vest contains.
When a mob or a single person attacks you they will usually try to shoot you or stab you. They’ll usually try to wound you in the upper torso, that’s why these body armor vests are so popular. These types of vests will be able to stop bullets and can deflect a knife thrust.
The vest itself is usually made from a material called Kevlar. Kevlar is a material made up of layered synthetic fibers that is extremely strong. You have probably seen them on T.V. on police programs. These vests can offer protection from the front, side and back. Many of these vests will have openings for plates that could even stop bullets fired from an automatic weapon (machine gun).
You don’t want to buy the least expensive vest you can find. Remember, this vest can mean the difference between life and death for you and your family. If you search online before purchasing your vest be aware that some companies will label their vests as “tactical”. That just means that they’re really just gear carrying vests, sometimes used in conjunction with law enforcement.
Something else I would recommend would be to add a groin protector with soft armor pieces you can put inside to shield your body from an attack. Another item of body armor that would be very useful during a violent situation would be a helmet.
A helmet that can protect you from a head injury during an assault may also be strong enough to deflect a bullet. It sounds like a lot to be wearing. But, I would rather wear all of this gear if it will save my life.
The “mob” may not only use knives or guns. They may also have access to and use a pipe bomb or hand grenade. In order to protect you against shrapnel, many people also buy a type of blanket known as a bomb blanket. Something to think about.
If won’t do us any good to have the best survival supplies if we aren’t around to use them because we didn’t plan on defending ourselves against a violent attack. I think there is a very high probability that these events will take place during an emergency situation. These are what can be called emerging threats.
